School Lane Parking Restriction Proposal,

4   War Memorial for World War 1;

  1. Our attempts to contact descendants of the 3 soldiers have so far not been successful. However ,following positive responses from the Royal Regina Regiment(of Canada),the Household Cavalry Association, and Ribble Valley Borough Council ,  the Parish Council has agreed to proceed to order a Brass Plaque to commemorate the names of 3 local men, who died in the First World War ,but who were omitted from the original memorial.
  2. We are seeking permission from the Church of England authorities to place the plaque on the Church wall, adjacent to the original memorial.
  3. In  addition ,the Parish Council has agreed to accept the offer of  an Oak Tree from RVBC for commemoration for planting in the Parish Garden. We will also ask the School (and parishioners )to help sow Poppy Seeds in the Parish Garden and probably on parts of Simonstone Lane and Whalley Road ,with some wild flower seeds too.
  4. We intend to dedicate the plaque in time for Remembrance Day 2014

Next meeting  is on 8th May at 7pm.

Please note that we still have a vacancy for a Parish Councillor ;if you are interested please contact Roger Hirst , Clerk to the Council on 01200 428742.
