Read and Simonstone Youth Council;Representatives spoke to us about the need for a small Skateboard Park for young people serving both parishes.We advised them about the availability of a mobile skate board park via Ribble Valley Borough Council and possible site.

Street Signs in Simonstone;we reported the poor condition of a number of street signs,identified by or to Parish Councillors, to the Borough Council.If any resident has noticed street  signs in poor condition,please advise the Parish Council.

Cycleway ;Blackburn Road to Padiham Greenway link;we supported this proposal;it will help staff at  the call centre/industrial enterprises in Simonstone Lane/Blackburn Road to cycle safely to work.We still press for the Railway Track Greenway extension to this scheme.

Civic Sunday 15th September ;residents are invited to join  the morning service on  Sunday 15th September in St Peters Church,for the Annual Parish Civic Sunday Service.

Parish Plan ;during spring and summer,Parish Councillors have been analysing your responses to the Parish Questionnaire distributed in February.We hope to hold a Parish meeting to outline what you said and what action has been taken , what actions are proposed and your views in early October.We are grateful to those residents and local companies who provided their views about parish services and their expectations too.

Christmas;we plan to erect the tree and lighting ceremony in late November;the Parish Christmas Party for Senior Citizens will be on 7th December;we wish to update the list of people invited and so will send a note to households in late September/early October,asking for this information.

Flower beds at Junction of Simonstone Lane and Blackburn Road;we are grateful to Fort Vale  for funding the seeding of the flower beds in this location(photographs attached).

Parish Council Vacancy;there are notices on both Parish Notice Boards about the process to be followed ;unfortunately by the time you see this note the process will be underway.

The next Parish Council meeting is on Thursday 12th September at 7pm in the Old School on School Lane; parishioners  are welcome to attend.
