1 We were pleased to welcome 6 members of the public who spoke about;-

1. improving safe crossing of School Lane for pupils at the village school 
2. the condition of the grass verges on Whalley Road near Buckshaw Terrace
3. proposed house extension in Scott Avenue.
Please note that planning applications are now available to see via the Ribble Valley
Borough Council website.

2 School Lane Parking Restriction Proposal,

St Peters School request an extension of yellow zigzag lines along the whole length 
of the Parish Church (avoiding any house frontage) to enable both the Infant and 
Junior pupils entrances to be used safely to cross to the Church.
With those assurances ,the Parish Council supported the proposal.
3 Welcome to Simonstone Sign on A671 Whalley Road is to be cleaned by 
Council Lengthsman.

4 War Memorial for World War 1;

1. Our attempts to contact descendants of the 3 soldiers have so far not been 
successful. However ,following positive responses from the Royal Regina 
Regiment(of Canada),the Household Cavalry Association, and Ribble Valley 
Borough Council , the Parish Council has agreed to proceed to order a Brass 
Plaque to commemorate the names of 3 local men, who died in the First World 
War ,but who were omitted from the original memorial.
2. We are seeking permission from the Church of England authorities to place the 
plaque on the Church wall, adjacent to the original memorial.
3. In addition ,the Parish Council has agreed to accept the offer of an Oak Tree 
from RVBC for commemoration for planting in the Parish Garden. We will also ask
the School (and parishioners )to help sow Poppy Seeds in the Parish Garden and 
probably on parts of Simonstone Lane and Whalley Road ,with some wild flower 
seeds too.

4. We intend to dedicate the plaque in time for Remembrance Day 2014
