1 We were pleased to welcome 2 new Parish Councillors Dave Waring from School Lane and John Kenneth Bury from Scott Avenue.

2I was reappointed as Chairman for a second year;we resolved to review the appointment of a Vice Chairman later in the year.

3)Parish War Memorial;having had cash or promised from 3 donors and with other approaches outstanding , recognising the time to produce  and the expressed interest from the military donors in Canada and Britain,we agreed to

a)order a 750mm x 300mm Bronze Commemorative Plaque .

b)accept the offer from the Deputy Mayor of Ribble Valley to plant an Oak Tree in the Parish Garden between October and December 2014(hopefully on the same day as the Plaque dedication)

c)accept the offer and supplement the amount of seed provided  to spread Poppy and Wild Flower Seeds in the Parish Garden and roadsides with local school children and Parishioners.

d)Convene a Parish Meeting on June 18th involving School,Church,Employers,Residents,Royal British Legion and Parish Council to consider involvement and organising the Plaque Dedication for November 2014.

4)We have been invited to visit the Lancashire Waste Recovery Plant (where our recycling products are processed),later this year;we agreed to invite neighbouring parishes to combine with us to see if a visit would be viable ;if any resident is interested  to join the visit please advise Roger Hirst the Parish Clerk(see below).

5Planning Application for 4 car parking spaces on  land at Gooseleach Lane/Simonstone Lane Junction;we supported this recognising that it should reduce the number of  cars from having to park on Simonstone Lane.

6Matters raised by Councillors;

a)Councillor Meloy;Whins Lane/Trapp Lane Junction;following the electricity recabling,traffic flows on these roads  have increased and with the support of the Police Community Support Officer,we are raising with LCC Highways , the need for a mirror or some other modification to improve safety at this junction.

b)Poor condition of footpath between Tennis Courts and Whins Lane;we are raising this matter with LCC Public Rights of Way Office.

c)Stan the Van will be on the Stork Car Park on 7th June(Read/Simonstone Fete).

7)Next Parish Council 12th June 2014 at 7pm in Parish Hall School Lane
