We were pleased to see 8 Simonstone Residents present to speak in the Public Participation Section of the Meeting, regarding a possible upgrade to a footpath across The Green and the County Plan to place double yellow lines on part of School Lane.

)Footpath Upgrade Proposal ;Harewood Avenue to School Lane; After considering reports on the views of Residents ,School Parents and a Risk Identification and Management, the Parish Council decided that    risks of providing the upgraded path were such that the Council would not proceed to provide the path. Thanks to Residents for their views and input.

Proposed Yellow Lines after Murphy Street on School Lane. The Parish had asked LCC to  consider Double Yellow Lines at the Narrow part of School Lane;the proposed scheme is considered by Residents to be too long and affecting their amenity ,so the Parish Council accepted their concerns and agreed to write to LCC to ask them to shorten the lines, consider a drop off /short stay space and to enforce current parking regulations on the road.

Inclement Weather;Hopefully residents who qualify(senior citizens/disabled citizens)have received bags of salt; The six Parish Council funded grit bins,3 in Harewood/Dawson and 3 on  the Fountains Avenue Estate should be delivered quickly by LCC.

Greenway;the Parish Council is cooperating with Lancashire,Burnley, Ribble Valley ,Padiham and Read Councils to extend the Greenway from the M65 Junction 8 slip road along the former East Lancashire Loop Railway line to the Simonstone Lane Industrial Estate.

Village War Memorial;Local Historians have identified 3 local men who died in the First World War ,but whose names are not included on the War Memorial. We are looking at costs ,speaking to the Church Authorities(the memorial is built into the Church Wall)and will be trying to find if there are family members still in the area.

Potholes in Roads;Lancashire County Council has a website through which members of the public can report potholes.
